Datuk Fadillah Yusof is a Malaysian politician. He is currently the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Petra Jaya constituency in Sarawak, representing the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). He is a Deputy Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation in the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition government.[1] His father, Yusof Merais, was an activist jailed several times by British colonial authorities.[2]
Fadillah first ran for Parliament in the 2004 election, having previously been an official in the PBB and a lawyer.[3] Fadillah won the election for the seat of Petra Jaya.[4] After being re-elected in the 2008 election, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation by then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.[5]
On 16 October 2010,he was conferred the award 'Darjah Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang' (PGBK),which carries the title 'Datuk' in conjunction with the 89th Birthday of the Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak.After the conferment of the award,he received many congratulatory messages from Sarawakians through his official Facebook page and after the award presentation ceremony,He also quoted: "I will carry out my responsibility to work harder for the state of Sarawak."[6]
